20 June 2009, during the presentation of the Misano Adriatico Superbike round, the Came Group announced its sponsorship of the Superbike World Championship. Superbike is one of the most electrifying and exciting displays of modern motorcycle racing. The Championship, where high cylinder capacity motorcycles which derive from standard road-going models compete, attracts an extremely high number of fans and is now a major sporting entertainment event.
The decision to sponsor Superbike as a TOP sponsor is part of the development and international promotion strategy of the Group and its brands: year on year the sporting event has seen an increase in interest from the public, in fact in 2008 it reached 1 million spectators across the world.
The Came Group’s strategic decision to participate in one of the most important international motorcycle events is accompanied by the Group’s decision to also sponsor the internationally famous champion Max Biaggi, who will take to the track in Superbike with Aprilia and is currently ranking fifth in the riders’ championship with 126 points. Born in Rome in 1971, Max Biaggi is the famous rider who now boasts a career marked with numerous successes that have given him a reputation as a motorcycling champion across the world, with four 250cc World Championships won (1994-1995-1996-1997), 42 GP victories, 56 pole positions (35 with 500cc/Moto GP and 33 with 250cc) and 215 GPs raced (65 in Moto GP, 62 with 500cc and 33 with 250cc).
Superbike has similar values to those of the Came Group whose strong point has always been innovation, and which has developed a new design philosophy and has developed new avant-garde mechanical and electronic technologies, offering complete solutions for home, community and town planning automation: the Group, just like Superbike, designs, manufactures and tests all its products according to strict criteria: EN Tested automations.
The Came Group has in fact developed a new "automation culture", transforming their entire range through research and development and technological innovation. The Came Group’s EN Tested Technology has revolutionised the automation market, anticipating the 2008 decree on installation safety and providing installers and the whole network of installation professionals with a product which has safety as its core value. In addition the Group has created a panel of services dedicated to installers which assists them during the certification process of the installations: for each new installation, or in the case of adapting existing installations, the Group assists installers throughout the compliance and safety certification process.
"We are proud to sponsor an important sporting event such as Superbike 2009 and a champion of exceptional talent such as Max Biaggi" - commented Paolo Menuzzo, President of the Came Group - "The world of motorcycle racing has always been an example of perfect fusion between sound sporting competition by the riders on the track and high technical competence of the racing teams which assure safety on the circuit. Ensuring safety and teamwork are the guidelines which reflect the spirit of the Came Group. "
“We are delighted to welcome the Came Group onboard as Top Sponsor of the Superbike World Championship” declared Paolo Flammini, Infront Motor Sports CEO. “They are one of the world leaders in the automated access control sector and to have them amongst our sponsor portfolio, as well as being a personal sponsor of one of our top riders, Max Biaggi, adds considerable prestige to our championship. Superbike and Came share similar values of safety, innovation and teamwork and we are very proud that they have decided to associate their name with us.”
