PA Housing are a provider of social housing with more than 23,000 homes across the Midlands, London and the South East and a range of housing solutions from affordable rent and independent living to shared ownership and outright sale for those in need. Their aim is to work with partners to find innovative ways to involve residents, while empowering their people to be unashamedly bold, doing whatever it takes to deliver more quality homes and services they can all be proud of. To achieve these goals, they needed all of their blocks to achieve the same high standards and this included the communal door access control.
The Challenge
PA was formed from a merger between Paragon and Asra Housing Associations and before this, Paragon managed a handful of residential blocks with Asra managing hundreds. After the merger, they found they had different communal door access control solutions on many different blocks, making it difficult and costly to manage them all. The objective after the merger was to have one solution across all blocks that could manage residents, staff and contractors’ access to all blocks for compliance and safety. In addition, where there is change of occupancy, they needed to be able to change fobs easily and quickly.
The Solution
Having had experienced CAME KMS SimpleKey Web communal door access control in a small number of blocks, Compliancy Services Manager, Jitesh Jivram knew that it could deliver their requirements and much more. Following a meeting with the CAME KMS Business Development team it was agreed that SimpleKey Web would be rolled out and could deliver against the following requirements:
- provide an easy access control administration platform
- be able to control multi person group access
- control access into housing blocks across a large geographical area
The Results
Having started to roll SimpleKey Web out across all blocks the results have been easy to see. With other access control solutions PA Housing would have to engage a contractor to visit a block if a new fob was required for either residents or staff/contractors. With SimpleKey Web, this can now be administered remotely from anywhere. It has allowed PA to manage the services more effectively including any complaints such as communal areas not being cleaned etc. They are able to see when a contractor visited each block and so ensure services are provided seamlessly. This functionality has led to both cost and time savings. In addition, being able to monitor fob usage has helped PA enforce Anti-Social Behaviour Order’s where needed, helping to ensure safe living for all residents.
